Description
Brachychiton rupestris, the Queensland Bottletree, is a unique Australian native tree. Towering heights and a characteristic swollen barrel-like trunk (caudex) forms with age. In cultivation, this makes a unique small specimen and can lend itself to unique specialty growing, such as in shallow bowls or pans to exaggerate its unique characteristics. Young plants, grown in pots, will take many years to develop these features, which will be less pronounced then when grown in-ground in proper climates.
This is a deciduous tree, so expect to experience seasonal dormancy.
